Today we will be reviewing Think black Act black by Matimba Mkansi
The book , Think Black Act Black is dedicated to black people as a guide to developing a mentality of self-reliance.
The focus is on Three themes:
White man is not your master
(Aimed at breaking free from the fear of and dependency on whiteness).
Government is not your mother
(Helps in understanding our role as black people in society, in order to bring about the change we seek in our lives).
Your blackness is not your weakness
(Focuses on helping the average person realise their worth).
About the Author
Matimba Mkansi was born on the 10th of May 1990, in Limpopo Province. He achieved His Matriculation in Shobiyana High School (Mpumalanga) in 2006, majoring in Mathematics and Science, and attained a Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. In his honours year, his research focused on The Decolonisation of Engineering Education, a topic he furthered into a Master’s Degree with the same University. During His studies, he authored a book titled Think Black Act Black, dedicated to helping black people develop a psychology of self-reliance. The book’s provocative section, “White Man is Not Your Master” was adapted as a recommended reading for a Sociology Course for engineering students at Wits University. His second Book, The Curriculum of Black Excellence, is expected to launch in September 2021. He firmly believes the mind-set of self-reliance is pivotal to the progress of black people, especially as people who suffered oppression which affected their minds and thinking for many centuries. Mr Think Black, as some people call him, is dedicated to African advancement through research and empowering education for African people.
